Computer science has become an integral part of the modern society with the advent of information technology. The ever-increasing demand of sophisticated computation has created the need for fast changing computer devices commensurate with the requirements of software and networking. Faculty of Computing and Information Technology, one of the earliest established faculties at UMU, offers academically sound and high quality programmes at the UG, PG and Ph.D levels with its state-of-the-art facilities and value-added teaching - learning methodology.

UMU curricular are a blend of theoretical and practical courses with focus on growing demands and the changing trends of software industry. Adequate exposure is given to subjects/areas such as Machine learning , Data Science and IOT so that our graduates acquire competency to contribute to the world of work. Apart from the BCA and MCA programmes, UMU also has on offer two post graduate diplomas of 1 year duration in the area of Data Science and Internet of things. These programmes will help the students to get suitable jobs in emerging areas of computer engineering , software development and application, internet of things and the highly dynamic areas of data science.
